Olympic Fortnight
2012 will be a memorable year for years to come for many reasons but in particular who could forget London 2012.
In the lead up to the Olympics the Olympic torch started it’s epic journey and we were lucky enough to be within walking distance of the torch passing through Camblesforth kick starting Holy Family Carlton’s very own Olympic Fortnight.
PE has come along way in the last 10 years and the PE department took full advantage of the energy created during the summer of 2012.
Below is a video the media team put together to capture all the activities the students were able to try over a two-week period.
Some sports were very new and exciting other very traditional. It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone and certainly opened up not just the student’s eyes on sport but the staff too.
Welcome
Welcome to HFTV a page to celebrate the schools media team.
Back in November 2012 Miss Howard was working with some very enthusiastic students during PE. Miss Howard realised that couldn’t say ‘no’ to anything so promptly asked if they would like to start making some videos in and around school.
The girls were thrown in at the deep end and were asked to film/interview England Cricket star Katherine Brunt the very same day. The rest they say is history….
The group of students are now regularly filming events in school that we can then showcase via YouTube and our social media pages.
They have been rewarded with all their efforts by being invited to take part in a media training day at Queen Margret’s School Escrick, where they will learn new media techniques from good interviewing practice to editing video footage.
It is hoped with time the media group will grow not only in size but also the media that they are using.
HFTV is already starting to experiment in audioboo which is a mini podcast, YouTube and blogging.
Keep checking back on this page to see the latest videos/podcast and blogs.
Many Thanks
Team HFTV
