Art
The Art Department aims to develop and improve creativity, skills, knowledge and appreciation in all pupils. It also aims to develop excitement for Art and Design as a subject for further study.
Yr7 programmes of study focus on the basic visual elements of Art; line, tone, texture, colour, shape, form, composition. These are explored using a broad range of approaches, and include activities using; pencil drawing, painting, mixed-media, clay work.
Yr8 programmes continue to develop skills with a broad range of media, but move into more in-depth study on themes such as; the portrait, architecture, identity.
Yr9 programmes further develop skills and techniques whilst considering significant movements in art, such as Surrealism and Cubism.
The Art Department currently offers two courses of study in the upper school:
BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Art and Design, with an emphasis on fine art, (drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking,)
BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Art and Design, with an emphasis on digital photography.
