Physical Education
Physical Education is a hugely important factor in keeping children happy and safe, the Physical Education Department take their subject very seriously and work together to motivate and engage all pupils.
The department has many outstanding indoor facilities in which students have many opportunities to perform. There is a large purpose built sports hall that can accommodate a variety of sports and has provision for 4 Badminton courts, 1 full size or 2 half size Basketball courts, 1 full size or 4 mini Volleyball courts and 1 Netball court. There is also Table Tennis, Trampolining, Five-a-side Football, Indoor Hockey and Gymnastics.
Lessons
All students in Years 7, 8, and 9 receive 2 hours of per week- and 1 hour in years 10 and 11. These are 2 single lessons lasting one hour each in Key Stage 3. During this time, a variety of activities are undertaken including Gymnastics, Core Skills, Hockey, Association Football, Netball, Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Orienteering and Health Related Fitness in the winter months. Summer term activities include Athletics, Rounders, Softball and Cricket. These activities are taught throughout Key Stage 3 and 4.
Extra-Curricular activities
Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities. There are many opportunities for students to develop their skills and a full programme of activities is published and displayed at the start of term. Inter school fixtures are regularly arranged and teams compete in the local area, surronding counties and national competitions / tournaments.
