Our code of conduct is based on respect for one another. We strive to make Gospel values relevant.

We have a strong pastoral system where form tutors and Heads of Year monitor the personal, social and academic development of each student. The form tutor is a significant person in the lives of the student because of the regular contact over a five year period.

Form tutors deliver PHSCE, supported by outside speakers and agencies. The programme covers citizenship, careers education and issues related to health, personal safety and well-being. It includes topics such as government, bullying, social responsibility, drugs and alcohol.

Students have access to outside agencies including Connexions, School Health, TeenRelate, School Chaplain, Behaviour Support and Youth Service.

The School Council has members from all years and meets regularly to discuss matters raised by staff and students.  The Council has a small budget and this year requested additional seating in a shaded area for use at lunch and break times. Student representatives are members of the Catering Committee and Specialist Status Management Group. The students’ voice is significant and subject leaders’ and the leadership team interview students about teaching and learning, care and guidance as part of the school’s self-evaluation programme.

Ofsted 2006 reported, “The school provides outstanding care, support and guidance to pupils”.

The promotion of pupils’ personal development and well-being is a major strength of the school”.
