My day with Pobble Creative Writing Workshop
On Monday 8th February, myself and three others- Kaitlyn Mills, Hollie Bristow and Alex Pickering (chosen because we are the most gifted and talented writers in Year 7) were lucky enough to go to a Creative Writing Workshop for Year 7 at Silcoates School, Wakefield.
When we arrived, we were shown into the huge library at Silcoates School. After arriving at the desks, three other schools came in one after the other. The room was finally full and Sue, the English teacher, explained to us the layout of the morning.
Once Sue had finished, Louise (the Pobble representative) did a speech on the theme of the morning’s writing entitled ‘If I could change the world…’.
After that, all of us went into the school canteen and snack which was croissants, pain au chocolat, sausage rolls and buns. Now our stomachs were full, we could set off writing, which we did for an hour. This writing was a competition piece in any style you wanted. I wrote a poem about how the society needs to change, not the world itself.
A touching part of the part of the day was reading a poem extract “The world is a beautiful place, if you don’t mind some people dying all the time by a poet called Laurence Ferlinghetti. I was very happy when I found out that I had come in 2nd place for my piece of creative writing and Kaitlyn came 3rd for hers.
I loved my inspiring day with Pobble and want to write a lot more often than I already do now.
