Welcome to our website, I hope you find the information provided both helpful and informative.

I have been a Foundation Governor at Holy Family for over 16 years and became Chair of Governors in September 2011 following on from Mr David Fagan a dear friend of mine and of the school.

My association with Holy Family, however, goes back even further as I am a former pupil of the school and have many fond memories of my time as a student. When my wife and I brought our children to look around the school as we contemplated their secondary education it felt like coming home.

At Holy Family we have sixteen governors made up of nine foundation governors, three parent governors, three staff governors including the Headteacher and one local authority governor. The role of all governors is to challenge and to support and, to this end; we raise questions and examine, through regular reports from the Headteacher, all of the decisions and activities undertaken by staff and pupils in our school.

I am in no doubt of the dedication and hard work of all the staff at Holy Family and I feel, rather; I know that the school has a strong ethos and an excellent reputation of which it is justifiably proud. All our staff  are prepared to go the extra mile to assist pupils during every stage of their education and they continually strive to help each young person achieve his or her maximum potential.

As a parent I was very pleased with the progress made by my children during their time at Holy Family and I am sure that the same high quality of education will be available to my granddaughter when she arrives to study here.

As Chair of Governors I am extremely proud of the achievements of all the pupils that pass through the doors of our school and I know that each and everyone of them benefits from the experience and is able “to grow in wisdom and in grace” as a member of our "family".

Peter A O'Neill.
